Gal 5:14

last year, sars killed abt 630 ppl in a few mths.. this year, the killer tsunami and quake in south asia killed more than 22,500 ppl in less than 2 days...

SAINT THÉRÈSE OF THE CHILD JESUS
"My God, I Love You!"

i was deeply touched by the final words of St. THÉRÈSE OF THE CHILD JESUS after reading her biography, i felt the warmth of my heart, and tears around my eyes..esp. her final words... here is an article of her life which i would like to look upon to

Saint Thérèse was born at Alençon in France on 2nd January 1873. Her parents were Louis Martin and Zélie Guérin. After the death of her mother on 28th August 1877, Thérèse and her family moved to Lisieux. Towards the end of 1879, she went to confession for the first time. Taught by the Benedictine nuns of Lisieux, she received First Holy Communion on 8th May 1884. Some weeks later, on 14th June of the same year, she received the Sacrament of Confirmation. She wished to embrace the contemplative life, as her sisters Pauline and Marie had done in the Carmel of Lisieux, but was prevented from doing so by her young age. On a visit to Italy, during an audience granted by Pope Leo XIII to the pilgrims from Lisieux on 20th November 1887, she asked the Holy Father with childlike audacity to be able to enter the Carmel at the age of fifteen. On 9th April 1888 she entered the Carmel of Lisieux. She received the habit on 10th January of the following year, and made her religious profession on 8th September 1890. She fulfilled in a very special way all the little aspects of daily life, with humility, a gospel simplicity and great trust in God, and she tried by her example and her words to impart these virtues to her sisters, especially the novices. Discovering that her place was to be at the heart of the Church, she offered her life for the salvation of souls and for the well-being of the Church. On 3rd April 1896, in the night between Holy Thursday and Good Friday, she suffered a haemoptysis, the first sign of the illness which would lead to her death; she welcomed this event as a mysterious visitation of the Divine Spouse. She was transferred to the infirmary on 8th July. Meanwhile her sufferings and trials intensified. She died, transported by love, on 30th September 1897. Her final words, "My God...., I love you!", seal a life which was extinguished on earth at the age of twenty-four; thus began, as was her desire, a new phase of apostolic presence on behalf of souls in the Communion of Saints, in order to shower a rain of roses upon the world. She was canonised by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and proclaimed patron of the missions by the same Pope in 1927. On 19th October 1997, Pope John Paul II declared her Doctor of the Church. Most remarkable is her biographical account, The story of a soul. In her autobiographical manuscripts she left us not only her recollections of childhood and adolescence but also a portrait of her soul, the description of her most intimate experience.

"O God, let me look upon your beloved sevant, Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus as my role model. Through her short life, she had offered for the salvation of souls and well-being of the church. may i imitate her love for God..and i ask this through the intercesson of st.Thérèse of the child Jesus .. In the name of Jesus. Amen"

our lady of guadalupe
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.
(Luke 17:6)
yesterday (12th December) marks the feast day of our lady of guadalupe
in 1531, "a lady from heaven" appeared to juan diego,a poor indian. the lady identified herself as the "mother of true God".she instructed him to have the bishop to build a temple on the site.. and left the image of herself on his tilma, a poor quality cactus-cloth, which should have deteriorated in 20 years but shows no sign of decay 469 years later and still defies all scientific explanations of its origin.it apparently even reflects in her eyes what was in front of her in 1531!

according to the first formal investigation by the church abt the events, juan diego seems to be a very religious man, even before his conversion to christianity.he used to walk from his village to a church, 14 miles away, on naked feet to receive doctrine and instruction...and for mass...

the blessed virgin mary, during her apparition, talked to him in his language. she called him, "juanito, juan dieguito ...the most humble of my sons."

juan diego moved to a room, attached to the local chapel that housed the sacred image.he spent the rest of his lifetime propagating the account the appariations of the countrymen.he died on may 30,1548..at the age of 74.

juan diego received the eucharist three times a week, it was rare in those times.

juan diego is simply the model of humility for all of us... his simple faith reflects to us abt the bible passage that i've posted on top.

"our lady of guadalupe, the mother of true God and saint juan diego, the model of humility, pray for us for the love of God, the Father, the Son and the Spirit...may our simple faith make a difference today through Christ, our lord. amen."

-my final piece-
"Temptation"
  • mary is embracing the cross.she represents purity, in contrast to the prostitutes in Les Demoiselles d'Avignon
  • the lady in blue, represents promiscuity who hide herself behind the robe of Virgin Mary, to seek refuge
  • the 2 fruits represent the forbidden fruit, the sign of temptation, which brought sin to the human race
  • the fire represents suffering that jesus had to undergo during crucifixion
  • the ghostly figure and the dragon represents the devil, trying to tempt jesus to avoid the cross during the agony in the garden of gesthamane
  • jesus is suffering. he is praying for strength from God.

thanks abby for taking this pic for me...

" Praised & blessed be the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary!"

December 8th celebrates the feast of the immaculate conception of blessed virgin mary (BVM)..as of this year, 2004..marks the 150th dogma of the immaculate conception, progumulgated by Pope Pius IX in 1854. .This dogma states that the Blessed Virgin Mary, "in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful."

"Remember, My children, come to My Mother; for in Her memory of Her human days upon earth, She above all humans created—sinless, without the stigma of sin, a perfect life upon earth without sin, and assumed into Heaven, body and spirit—She above all can direct you because She is your Mother; She is the Queen of Heaven, and the Mother of every human being upon earth."

-Jesus, August 14, 1979 -

(Taken from Dom Gueranger's The Liturgical Year:)

this dogma procliams that mary's soul was the tabernacle created by Yahweh, himself, for the purpose of the incarnation, was never subject to original sin, but completely preserved from the original taint. In other words, the Blessed Virgin Mary was created immaculate by God as the new Eve,equal to the first Eve that was created immaculate by God.

festival of lights or hanukkah is an eight-day celebration that begins with 25th Kislev of the Jewish calendar.

this year, hanukkah is celebrated on sundown of dec 7th through sundown of dec 15th.

hanukkah marks the legend of a miracle durg the rededication of the temple.den, the jews found out that the oil were only enough to last one day. however, the small portion of oil burned for eight days.. which is the length of time required to purify new oil. (miracle done by God, the almighty).

let us rmb this.. through faith, miracles can happen

"O Rock of my salvation, with delight we praise You.
Restore the Temple where we will bring offerings.
When You will eliminate our enemies,
Then I shall sing at the rededication. "

Novena (from novem, nine)
Novena is a nine days devotion to obtain graces from God.

i went for the novena devotion to our mother of perpetual help every saturday and i've juz came back from novena church for the devotion wif meixia.

there are many pictures of our mother of perpetual help around the world. it is one of the most popular pictures that the catholic use to venerate our mother, the blessed virgin mary. being christian, honouring mary is important.. as we were told by God in the 4th commandment to "honour your father and mother". mary look pretty sad in the icon of our mother of perpetual help. some may find it scary. this icons shows how we can find refuge, just as Jesus find refuge when he was an infant.

mary is so close to her divine son rite now. in the bible, we can see how close relationship of mary and jesus. jesus' human nature is from His human mother, mary of nazareth. praying through mary is asking mary to pray for us as she is so near to jesus. mary has never failed to pray for us, just as God has never failed to answer our prayers.

i enjoy going to the church of st. alphonsus (novena church) for novena... to see how the devotion of both catholics and non-catholics to our lady and the faith in God.. and the thanksgiving letter that the church receive each week. although the temporary church of st. alphonsus may be small and humid (no air-con), i love to see the devouts sitting on the floor and crowding around the icon of our mother of perpetual help..it really gives me a feelg of the mother-and -child relationship between mary and the ppl.

mary is not only the mother of christians, but oso the mother of all ppl.

Prayer of Confidence
Mother of Perpetual Help,
we come to you and place our trust in you.
You are a Mother of mercy.
You are called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners;
be then our refuge and our hope.
Help us for the love our Jesus Christ.
Stretch out your hands to us poor sinners.
We bless and thank God for giving us this confidence in you.
In the past, we have so often sinned but with your help,
we can conquer, and you will help us if we pray to you.
In all our temptations, may we always turn to you and say:
Mary help me!
Let me never lose my God
Amen.

6:12 PM;

about 2000 years ago. there lived an ordinary jewish lady who was humilated as she was found pregnant b4 marriage. she gave birth to her son not in a comfortable bed, but in a stable. not long after giving birth to her son, she had to travel all the way to a foreign nation. not by aeroplane but by donkey. she knew that her son is special but she did nt understand him well.few years later, she had to watch her own beloved son being sentence to death, a terrible death.

is she punished by God?

who is this lady?

she is mary of nazareth.

mary became the spourse of the holy spirit. she received the son of God in her womb before her marriage.she was humilated and joseph, her husband planned to divorce her secretly.

she had to travel all the way to egypt shortly after giving birth to Jesus.

mary did not understand her son durg the finding in the temple.

she had to watch her beloved son, being crucified....

is she rewarded?

YES, she is

she was assuemed into heaven. crown the queen of heaven. most imptly, got united with her beloved son, our lord and saviour, jesus christ.

"While Jesus was saying these things, one of the women in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed. But He said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it."
(Luke 11:27-28)"
indeed, not only mary was the one who nursed our saviour, she was oso the one who hear the word of God and observe it.

though mary's life may be sorrowful. she trusted God.. and she was rewarded.

let us take mary as our role model.. her trust in God.

AMEN.

"Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me"

december 1st marks World AIDS day. AIDS is the result of hiv. HIV virus is one of the most devastated threat to mankind.currrently, there are about 38 million ppl affected by this disease.the most alarming region of the spread of HIV is the sub-saharan ... a total of 25 million affected by HIV. wad are the ppl doing to slow down the spread of hiv?

nowadays, instead of educating ppl to stay away from casual sex, the public r taught to practise safe sex(using condoms). so, is the public being taught that .."causal sex is okie.. juz use condom if u r unsure whether u haf hiv or nt.... "

hiv can still be transmitted through condom. it onli reduces the risk by 90%. (u r still 10% at risk)

in kenya, where an estimated 20% of people have HIV - the church condemns condoms for promoting promiscuity and repeats the claim about permeability. The archbishop of Nairobi, Raphael Ndingi Nzeki, said: "Aids... has grown so fast because of the availability of condoms."

i agree with archbishop raphael ndingi nzeki. the ONLY way to prevent the spread of hiv is to STOP casual sex behaviour.

many hiv-positive indivisuals r being discriminated becoz of their hiv status.be aware of the ppl who r being discriminated. they r suffering from both discrimination and their illness.

during the season of advent, while we are waiting for the light of Christ, let us support and educate the public , abt this threat we humankind r having.pray for those surffering esp. the children of africa... who r ignorant of their infection and r oso nt responsible for their disease.

We must break the silence and the barriers to effective HIV/AIDS prevention and care. Only by confronting stigma and discrimination will the fight against HIV/AIDS be won.

*saint aloysious gonzaga, pray for the ppl affected by HIV. may they find comfort even they r ill.may the human race fight against the discrimination and stigma of hiv. we ask this through christ our lord. amen
